about

"Tempo" is an invitation to join them through time and space, present and past – two afrofuturistic aliens and Global-Bass-Travelers who search for their cultural African roots.
One can comprehend the songs of „Tempo“ as a twelve-part audio-adventure of producer Lee Bass and femcee Gata Misteriosa.

There is a story in every song:
The album starts with "Mocambique" - a where Gata Misteriosa deals with the bloody colonial history of her parents` hometown.
The single release "Dia D" already is a global dancefloor hymn. Together with the African Highlife guitars of V. Themba, it`s a hommage to the international success of the last years`African Pop Music.
"Policia" is a collaboration with the Ghanaian Rapper Delasi and speaks out against the worldwide police violence. It can be understood as an afro-pean consolidation and a statement of solidarity to the #BlackLivesMatter-movement in the USA.
"Barulho" is a Favela Punk song, which is developed together with their Brazilian Global-Bass-Fellow Edu K.
With the song "Pirao" Gato Preto feels out long forgotten traditions, recipes and the healing arts of Africa and reinterpretes them, connected to the digital networked diaspora and to the ambitious African cosmopolitan middle class.

„Take a Stand“ is a love song for Africa – its a call for staying true to your roots and your origins in this modern world where media creates western stereotypes.
It raises awareness about our past kingdoms, kings, queens and thinkers who lost their Life’s in the battle against the colonizers. Our ancestors where proud of their motherland Africa.Till today we are still struggling with our own identity and Gato Preto felt its time to encourage people through their music to be proud of where they come from no matter where they live!
At last Gato Preto works out the time leap "Back Into The Future". They return from the past as open-minded, self-confident Afro-Europeans to predict new trends an the Global Pop Heaven.
